About Dr. Thaxton
Lauren Thaxton, MD, chose to go into the field of Family Planning because she believes that choosing if, or when, to become pregnant is critical for a person's health and bodily autonomy and that reproductive freedom is a necessary component to gender equity. She considers her role of providing contraception and family planning services as, “the most rewarding job”. One of her strengths as a physician has been her ability to take sometimes emotionally tense or anxiety provoking clinical encounters and reassuring patients that they will be taken care of in a compassionate, evidence-based way.
Dr. Thaxton received her medical degree from Texas Tech School of Medicine, and MBA from Texas Tech University. She went on to complete her residency in OB-GYN, fellowship in Complex Family Planning and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of New Mexico.
